Animal Control

Municipal animal control is a public-safety service, not a retail boarding product. Coverage, kennel arrangements, and after-hours response are set in each municipal contract.

Typical files

Stray and roaming dogs, at-large complaints, barking and menacing-dog investigations, bite reports referred by the municipality, and owned-animal by-law contraventions (licensing, running at large, prohibited animals where the by-law applies).

Wildlife in the wild is generally a Ministry or municipal public-works matter unless your contract specifically includes it. Livestock valuation files are an intake-and-referral function where contracted — they are not a promise of provincial payment.

How to report

Call dispatch at (226) 910-1322 or use the concern form. Give the municipality, a location that can be found on a map, a description of the animal, and whether anyone is injured.

If a person is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1 first.
