What officers are appointed to do
Municipal law enforcement officers work under appointment by the municipality. Scope is set by that appointment and by the by-laws in force. Typical files include property standards, zoning and land use, noise, parking, and seasonal regulations (shoreline, trails, short-term rental intake where contracted).
The operating model is the same on every contract: take the complaint, open a file, attempt compliance, and use the tools the municipality has authorized — notice, order, provincial offence notice, or further investigation — when education is not enough.

Southwestern Ontario municipalities
Contracts are held across Grey, Bruce, Simcoe, and neighbouring counties. Individual contract terms are between the municipality and the company and are not listed here.
