Dispatch & Communication

The communications centre is the intake point for contracted municipal and security work. It is staffed around the clock. It is not 9-1-1.

What the desk does

Call taking and placing, radio support to field units, after-hours intake, short-term rental hotline coverage where a municipality has contracted it, and a written hand-off between shifts. Welfare checks on field staff run on a set interval.

Every by-law and animal-control complaint is entered. Invalid or out-of-jurisdiction calls are still documented so the municipality has a record.

Platform names, radio system design, and CAD internals are not published. Residents and clerks do not need them to use the service.

Call taking

Inbound and outbound calls are queued, logged, and assigned. You should receive a file reference for a complaint that falls under a current contract.

Field safety

Officers on duty are checked on a schedule. Failure to answer radio and phone escalates to management, including after hours.

After-hours policy

Off-duty field staff are not contacted for routine files. Urgent matters go through management. That protects rest cycles and keeps the desk consistent.
